The Bialetti Mocha pot is both a design classic and an iconic Italian product. Great espresso is essential to the Italian way of life and for many years before the invention of electrical espresso machines for the home Italians relied on Bialetti mocha pots to make their coffee. The quality and ease with which these fantastic art deco style pots brew espresso means that they are still the method of choice for thousands of coffee lovers the world over. A Bialetti mocha pot is extremely simple to use. Unscrew the base and fill it with fresh tap water, fill the funnel with medium ground coffee but be sure not to pack it down. Screw the top and bottom halves of the pot together and sit the Bialetti mocha pot on the hob on a medium heat. As the water heats up it is forced upwards through the funnel of coffee and into the top of the pot where it is held by a non return mechanism. The mocha pot makes a rushing noise while it brews; when it falls silent the delicious fresh espresso is ready. Our top tip is to add just a splash of single cream to your coffee to make a classic, smooth cafe creme.
