Global knives were first launched onto the market in 1985. They represented a massive leap forwards as they were the first ‘one piece’ stainless steel knives ever seen on the high street. From an initial selection of 12 blades in 1985 the Global range has risen to over 100 pieces. Each knife is hand crafted in parent company, Yoshikin’s factory in Niigata Japan.
The original design brief for Global was to create a series of chef’s knives that would appeal to both professional and amateur chefs, they would be comfortable to hold and meet the most demanding cutting standards. Balance and poise is achieved in Global knives by filling the hollow handle with sand. This allows very precise setting of the weight characteristics of each knife.
Because of their unique style, shape and cutting performance Global knives have achieved a cult status amongst chefs and design enthusiasts. Their popularity is such that large seizures of counterfeit Global knives have been made by customs authorities.
