The blade of a Deba is ground on one side and subtly convex on the other. The knife is intended for cutting ultra fine slices of meat, fish or vegetables. The knife needs to be held out at a slight angle to the food to prevent the natural wedge shape from turning the knife inwards and giving your slices a fat bottom. Out tip is to practice slicing a potato, you'll soon get the knack. The wedge shaped handle helps by putting your hand and wrist into the optimum position to perform smaller cutting, chopping and slicing tasks. The asymmetrical shape of this knife blade means that it is only suitable for right handed users.

The handle is hollow and filled with sand to give the optimum balance to each different blade.
