Gorgeous cookware in an outstanding location – what’s not to love about our new Steamer Trading in Wells?
The beautiful medieval city of Wells is considered to be the jewel in the crown of Somerset by its residents, and many tourists alike that flock to the area each year. This historic little city has been in existence since pre-history and was formally settled in Roman times. The bubbling spring wells, from which the town takes its name, have led travellers to the area for centuries, seeking their presumed restorative powers and creating a focus for religious activities over the centuries. These famous wells can now be found in the gardens of the Bishops Palace, a short walk from Steamer Trading.
Wells is the smallest city in England with around 12,000 inhabitants, but it can still call itself a city due to the gloriously gothic 13th Century Cathedral which dominates the local landscape. With its narrow streets and an eclectic mix of building styles, Wells is truly a wonderful place to visit.
The attractive, Grade II listed building that now houses Steamer Trading was originally built around 1453, but modified significantly in the late 18th and early 19th Century. The building you see today still retains much of its original character and nestles harmoniously within the historic Market Square, in the shadow of the spectacular cathedral.
There has been a Cookshop on this site since 1998 as Steamer Trading took over the shop from Kitchenmonger Cookshop in 2016, continuing to supply the good people of Somerset with the best brands of kitchenware, delivered with the best possible levels customer service.
