In the beautiful stone-built Oxfordshire town of Witney, famous for its history of blanket making, we’d long coveted a particularly nice listed building on the Market Square.
Some years later, when the family-run furnishers moved out and offered us the shop we were delighted to have found a perfect place for a Steamer Trading. We even acquired their shop manager, an enthusiastic cook, as part of the deal!
Following much work and restoration, we created a lovely cookshop over two floors, packed with lots of kitchen goodies. With space to demonstrate coffee machines, teach knife sharpening, show off cookware and tableware, a visit to Steamer Trading is a real treat.
Our team are always very welcoming and full of good ideas and expert advice, so do drop in to see them for a chat, an espresso or just a contented browse.
How to find us
Steamer Trading is at 10 Market Square, Witney OX28 6BB – adjacent to the High Street. Parking is free in most areas of Witney – the Woolgate or Marriots Close shopping centres are both convenient for our shop or there is limited on-street parking. The nearest train stations to Witney are Oxford (regular bus services run to Witney) or Combe, 5 miles away.
Built on a slope, our lovely, Grade II-listed shop does unfortunately have some steps inside and slightly narrow door access. There are (easy going) stairs to the first floor but no lift. However, our ever helpful staff are here to help so please let us know if you have any special requirements.
